There’s something about Peru that has always drawn me in – perhaps the idea of walking where the Incas once ruled, or the blend of Lima’s modernity with the historic streets of Cusco. The fact is, Peru is the next destination for Laranjeiras Fine Art, and I want to share with you some of the preparations and choices I’ve made so far, so you can join me on this journey.
Requirements for Entering Peru: What You Need to Know
First and foremost, it’s important to mention the requirements for entering the country. Currently, there are no mandatory vaccines to visit Peru, but it’s always a good idea to check health recommendations before traveling, especially if you plan to explore more remote areas. Keeping your vaccination card up to date, particularly with vaccines for yellow fever and COVID-19, is always recommended.

Choosing Accommodations: Between Modernity and Tradition
When it comes to choosing where to stay, Lima offers a great mix of tradition and modernity. I decided to stay in Miraflores, a neighborhood known for its stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and its vibrant atmosphere. San Isidro also caught my attention, but I opted for something more laid-back for the first stop. In Cusco, with its higher altitude, the challenge will be adjusting to the climate and slower pace. But the beauty of the place and its history are more than enough to make up for any shortness of breath.

Machu Picchu: The Highlight of the Journey
Machu Picchu, of course, will be the highlight of the trip. After much research, I chose the train route, which will take me to Águas Calientes, the town located at the foot of the citadel. The anticipation of climbing to the top and witnessing the sunrise among those ruins is already keeping me awake— in a good way! The plan is to spend a night in Águas Calientes and, the next day, make the long-awaited visit.

Exploring Beyond the Classic Destinations
Beyond the major destinations, I have everything planned for excursions that go beyond the ordinary. In Lima, I intend to explore the world-renowned local cuisine, and in Cusco, I will get lost in the cobblestone streets, each corner seeming to tell a different story. There is so much to discover beyond Machu Picchu, and Peru promises to be an endless source of culture and adventure.
